More Information

HMS Caroline: discover Belfast’s first world war ship

Berthed in the heart of Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, HMS Caroline is a remarkable First World War ship, meticulously restored and refurbished to its original 1914 condition.

A class apart

Now a ‘must see’ floating museum, HMS Caroline is refreshingly authentic and reassuringly unique. Journey back more than 100 years to experience a dangerous life at sea and get hands on with maritime history!

Sole survivor

HMS Caroline is the sole survivor of 1916’s Battle of Jutland, the largest naval battle in history, playing a heroic role in two World Wars and becoming the second-longest serving warship in Royal Navy history.

Witness the Battle of Jutland

Your HMS Caroline adventure begins in the Drill Hall, where the Battle of Jutland is brought to life. This immersive cinematic

experience puts you right at the heart of the action!

Explore the living quarters - listen to the crews’ stories

Walk through the Captain’s, Officers’ and Crew Quarters and it’s as if they never left! Could you have slept in a hammock like the seamen? Or would only the Captain’s Quarters have done for you?

Get up close to the engines

Get right up close to HMS Caroline’s incredible 40,000 horsepower engines and experience the roar of those massive turbines which powered the ship to an incredible top speed of 30 knots – an amazing speed for any ship of any era!

Crack codes... send signals... fire torpedoes... steer the ship

Crack codes, launch torpedoes, steer the ship and signal other ships in our interactive exhibition, just as the crew would have done during the First World War – compelling for children and just as much fun for adults!

Take time out in the mess deck café

Your perfect pit stop to rest up. Immerse yourself in even more history onboard while enjoying a tea / coffee and a delicious snack in the Mess Deck Café.

Take a selfie next to the ship’s guns!
