Marking 100 Years of Youth Work
This Saturday 25th June, young people will demonstrate lifesaving First Aid Skills to the public in the grounds Belfast City Hall.

In 2022 St John Ambulance SJA(NI) is celebrating the ‘Year of Youth’ marking 100 years of St John Cadets and 35 years of Badgers, the charity’s programmes for young people. To commemorate the occasion, they are hosting the Big First Aid Lesson at Belfast City Hall where young people and volunteers will demonstrate key first aid skills to the public.

St John Ambulance Northern Ireland wants more young people than ever to be qualified and ready to be active health citizens, role models and be the next generation of health professionals. Through their programmes shaped by and for young people, participants are supported to play an active role in creating health resilience in their communities.

Over time, St John’s youth programmes have evolved and expanded; today the charity enables young people aged 10 to 17 to learn first aid, including how to deal with modern day health emergencies as well as building confidence and gaining important life skills and to help create a healthier, safer and more resilient future.

The Big First Aid Lesson will take place in the grounds of Belfast City Hall on Saturday 25th June from 11am to 4pm and is free to attend. As well as demonstrations of key first aid skills there will also be a chance to find out more information about St John Ambulance youth programmes and volunteering opportunities.
