Learn how to protect children's rights in education with the experts from the Children's Law Centre.
This course will be of benefit to parents and carers, teachers, principals, SENCOs and teaching assistants in mainstream and special needs education, youth workers and youth advocates in the voluntary, statutory and community sector, Boards of Governors, health and social care practitioners and legal advisors.
Every child deserves equality of access to education and to an inclusive educational experience, where their rights are fully acknowledged. Delivered by CLC SEN Specialist Rachel Hogan, CLC Advice Manager, Liam Mackle and CLC’s Head of Legal Kathryn Stevenson, this practical and interactive course outlines the legal duties within education in areas where a robust rights-based approach works in favour of everyone. The course will cover domestic and human rights law in relation to a variety of educational topics, including, exploring the legal responsibilities of the EA to make suitable provision for children with SEN, suspensions and exclusions, school governance, children in ‘out of school’ settings, bullying and disability discrimination.
