Pharmacy First Scheme-Information Event

Rural Community Network

The Pharmacy First Scheme is the replacement for the Minor Ailments service currently offered in Pharmacies.
Minor Ailments are common health conditions which require little or no treatment. They can be treated with medicine available from the pharmacy without a prescription, if the pharmacist thinks it is needed. The Pharmacy First Scheme encourages patients to consult a participating community pharmacy, rather than their GP, for common conditions. If the Pharmacist thinks that a medicine or product is needed to treat their symptoms, they will supply this to the patient free of charge.
Workshops
The Community Development and Health Network (CDHN) has been asked to carry out several workshops as a means of facilitating a conversation with people across Northern Ireland on the existing Minor Ailments scheme and the proposed changes i.e. the introduction of the Pharmacy First Scheme.
