For those in employment, retirement planning and thinking about pensions can appear to be something that can always be put off.

But, being able to support your clients early on to learn about the options available to them has never been more important.

The UK Money Guiders Networks are delighted that pensions experts from the MoneyHelper team will be coming along to talk at this event - on Pensions Awareness Day 2022.

What will the attendees learn?

  • Planning and budgeting for retirement – how much money does someone need?
  • Knowing what to expect from the State Pension and how to claim it
  • Automatic Enrolment into workplace pension schemes – how does it work?
  • Paying into a pension and the benefits
  • Tracing old pensions and what should you do with them
  • What happens to a pension on death?

About the speaker(s)

MoneyHelper speakers at this event are from the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS). They help people – particularly those most in need – to improve their financial wellbeing and build a better, more confident future. Working collaboratively across the UK, they ensure everyone can access high-quality money and pensions guidance and debt advice throughout their lives, how and when they need it.

MoneyHelper is here to make your money and pension choices clearer. Its is a free service provided by the Money and Pensions Service.

Who should attend?

All money guidance practitioners are welcome to attend this free event. This could include staff across the United Kingdom who are supporting service users with pension queries, pro-actively budgeting for later in life and anyone offering guidance to improve the financial wellbeing of the users of their service.

The Money Guidance Competency Framework

This event is designed to help you improve your money guidance practice, developing skills, confidence and knowledge around a specific money related area. Everything that the Money Guiders programme offers centres around the Money Guidance Competency Framework - it's there to help you better understand the full breadth and depth of money related issues that fall outside of the regulated financial advice service sector - the things you talk to your customers about.

Which part of the competency framework applies to the event?

  • Pensions Technical Domain: including Tier 1 (awareness) and Tiers 2 and 3 (knowledge) will be covered at this training. Click here for full details.
  • Foundation Level - Signposting customers: all practitioners – no matter their job role – must be able to elicit simple, factual information from the customer in order to signpost them to appropriate sources of further support, advice or information

Before attending this session, you could spend some time considering the challenges you face in your work, specifically when you provide help and guidance to your clients or service users around money issues.

Accessibility

The event takes place on Teams. If you have any accessibility requirements, please inform the hosts when you register, and we will do our best to meet them.
