Aware NI

AWARE has an established network of 23 support groups in rural and urban areas across the country, which are run by our trained volunteers. Support groups welcome people with depression and bipolar disorder as well as carers for people with the illness. We also deliver Information Outreach sessions and attend community events to give more information about AWARE and our services.

AWARE delivers mental health and well-being programmes into communities, schools, colleges, universities and workplaces. These programmes include our suite of Mood Matters programmes, Living Life to the Full, Mental Health First Aid and Mindfulness.

About the speaker

This tailored Mood Matters session will give participants knowledge and skills which can be used to maintain or regain good mental health and build resilience to deal with life’s challenges.

The programme is based on cognitive behavioural concepts and introduces the ‘Five Areas Approach’ which participants use to challenge and change unhelpful thinking and behaviour in order to make a positive difference to their lives.

It also features the ‘Take 5 for Your Emotional Wellbeing’ which focuses on the five most evidenced ways of looking after our mental health i.e. Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give and teaches us how we can build these into our everyday lives. Education & Training Officer Jemma White will be our guest speaker who will discuss a range of support for the following:

• Things that affect our mental health

• Mental ill health – Stress, Anxiety, Depression

• Looking after our mental health

• Sources of help – What is available at Aware

• 10min Deep relaxation using positive visualisation (optional for attendees)

Who should attend?

All money guidance practitioners are welcome to attend this free event. This could include staff across the United Kingdom who are supporting service users with difficult conversations and anyone offering guidance to improve the financial wellbeing of the users of their service.

The Money Guidance Competency Framework

This event is designed to help you improve your money guidance practice, developing skills, confidence and knowledge around a specific money related area. Everything that the Money Guiders programme offers centres around the Money Guidance Competency Framework - it's there to help you better understand the full breadth and depth of money related issues that fall outside of the regulated financial advice service sector - the things you talk to your customers about.

Which part of the competency framework applies to the event?

The Foundation Competency – Knowledge and Compliance as well as Skills and Behaviours.

Knowing Your Customer Technical Domain: including Tier 1 and Tier 2.

Foundation Level - Signposting customers: all practitioners – no matter their job role – must be able to elicit simple, factual information from the customer in order to signpost them to appropriate sources of further support, advice or information.

Before attending this session, you could spend some time considering the challenges you face in your work, specifically when you provide help and guidance to your clients or service users around money issues.

Accessibility

The event takes place on Teams. If you have any accessibility requirements, please inform the hosts when you register, and we will do our best to meet them.
