Our talk topics include:
Doctors & Disease: The Medical History of the Poor House (August 14), exploring, among other stories, the very topical subject of how the Poor House responded to the epidemics of the 19th century.
HERstory: The Women of Clifton House (August 21) a focus on the lives of the women who were involved with the Belfast Charitable Society and the Poor House, based on original research in our archives.
Philanthropy Past & Present: From the ‘Founding Fathers’ to the 21st Century (August 28), an online talk to mark the 267th anniversary of the foundation of the Belfast Charitable in 1752, which still to this day works to tackle disadvantage in Belfast and beyond.
All our online talks are facilitated by our knowledgeable staff and volunteers using Zoom. Numbers for these hour-long sessions will be limited to allow for Q&A sessions at the end.
