Keep Er Lit - The Mac Theatre Belfast

Include Youth

The show follows the lives of Callan, Jodie, Katie and Mat – 4 young people who for one reason or another are having difficulties in their lives. They do share one thing in common though, their love and passion for music. Set just after the signing of the Good Friday Agreement, the young people have just finished a year on a music based programme with their mentors Fauna and Dylan. As an end goal they have been invited to play at the ‘Keep ‘Er Lit’ festival in Donegal. The talent isn’t an issue they are all highly talented, but will they let their life circumstances hold them back, or will they rise to the challenge that awaits them in the wilds of Donegal.
Keep ‘Er Lit is an educational show for young people looking at very important issues in today’s society including peace building, community relations, mental health, addiction, relationships, issues for young carers, family breakdown, isolation, stigma and peer pressure. The show highlights the value of intervention from a youth work perspective and the effectiveness of building and maintaining positive relationships with young people.
With a full cast of both adults and young people, a ten piece live band and a few guests along the way, Keep ‘Er Lit is highly entertaining, light hearted and energetic. It is a show not to be missed for schools or any organisations working in the field of Youth Work, Social Care, Social Work, education or training.
