Who should attend:
All money guiders and practitioners are welcome to attend this free event. This could include (but not limited to) staff in Northern Ireland who are supporting service users with debt, lending or any having financial concerns, for example:
• Anyone providing guidance to improve the financial wellbeing of the users of their service
• Money advisors/coaches
• Employment coaches
What will you get from this event?
The session will provide information on how you can help service users recognise illegal money lending, the risks that someone may face if the accept an illegal loan and discuss local support that is available to support a victim of a loan shark.
This workshop is aimed to fit within the Money Guidance Technical Domains Section 2 - Debt (Tier 1) Awareness of reasons why individuals might seek out loans from illegal or dubious source such as loan sharks, family and friends and typical issues this can cause and Foundation Competency E - Signposting Customers.
Who is leading the workshop?
Constable Sam McClure from Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) will be providing information on their Executive programme for tackling paramilitary activity & organised crime.
