Free online seminar to mark Disability Awareness Week NI 2020 focusing on health inequalities and how we can adapt services for people with learning disabilities. Presented by Derry City & Strabane District Council in partnership with Public Health Agency and Developing Healthy Communities.
Research consistently reflects that people with disabilities face additional barriers in accessing clinical and community-based health services.
This webinar will focus on outlining the barriers faced by people with learning disabilities and what reasonable adjustments can be made to break down these barriers.
Speakers include:
- Mary-Anne Webb, Head of Policy & Influencing, Mencap NI
- Professor Owen Barr, Professor of Nursing and Intellectual Disability, University of Ulster on Equity of Access for people with Learning Disabilities
- Clionagh McElhinney, Acute Liaison Nurse, Altnagelvin Hospital on A Model of Excellent Practice and
- Louise Boyce, Access Inclusion Officer, Derry City and Strabane District Council will lead a discussion on Lessons for improving access to community and clinical based health services for people with learning disabilities
