The aim of the OCN NI Level 3 endorsed course ‘A Guide to Social Security Benefits’ is to provide learners with an understanding of Social Security benefits available in Northern Ireland, including the basic skills, knowledge, processes and practice in relation to various Social Security Benefits including Universal Credit. This course will take place at Advice NI offices with online modules available for access on our Moodle platform.

Course Objectives:

The course has 2 mandatory units:

  • Unit 1 – Understanding Social Security Benefits
  • Unit 2 – Understanding Universal Credit

The objectives of these units are to enable learners to :

  • Understand the eligibility criteria for social security benefits and Universal Credit.
  • Understand the application and assessment process when claiming social security benefits and Universal Credit.
  • Understand and be able to calculate social security benefits and Universal Credit including tariff income.
  • Understand supports available when claiming Universal Credit.
  • Understand Universal Credit deductions.

Private Rate : £370

The OCNNI registration and certification fee is included in the cost of the course.

Similarly, for Advice NI staff, please register using your work email address as your registration will not be fully complete otherwise.

Registration Deadline:

The deadline for registrations is 3pm on Wednesday 21st August 2024.
