Green Therapy Seminar 19 May 23

Positive Steps Outdoors C.I.C.
NICVA member Positive Steps Outdoors invite you to join them on the morning of the 19 May 23 at the Ormeau Baths, Belfast to explore mental and physical health challenges in communities and businesses, the value of improved mental and physical health and the role that engaging with the outdoors through green therapy plays in promoting wellbeing. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to put the learning into practice on the Belfast Hills.
During the morning seminar, following a welcome by ex-boxer Carl Frampton, you will have the chance to hear from speakers from Positive Steps Outdoors, Aware NI, Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke, British Mountaineering Council, the Wellbeing Pathway, Belfast Hills Partnership and Mourne Heritage Trust. In the afternoon Positive Steps Outdoors and the Belfast Hills Partnership will provide a guided walk on Divis and Black Mountain. The programme for the day is:
10:00 - 10:15: Arrival coffee and tea
10:15 - 10:20: Welcome by ex-boxer Carl Frampton
10:20 - 1025: Introduction to the day (Alan Elwood Director, Positive Steps Outdoors)
10:25 - 10:40: The mental health challenge (Marina Mc Cully, Head of Service Development Aware)
1040 -10:55: The Physical health Challenge (Emma McCrudden, Programme Manager – Work Well Live Well, Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke)
10:55 - 11:10: The value of Green Therapy (Dr Jeremy Windsor British Mountaineering Council and the British Mountain Medicine Society)
11:10 - 11:25: Real People's Stories (Catherine Murrin - The Wellbeing Pathway)
11:25 - 11:45: Accessing Green Therapy (Positive Steps Outdoors, Mourne Heritage Trust and Belfast Hills Partnership).
11:45 - 12:00: Prep for walk / collect lunch
12:30 - 15:00: Walk on Divis and Black Mountain with Positive Steps Outdoors and Belfast Hills Partnership. Possible due to the kind support of The National Trust.
