My name is Philip Martin and I teach yoga and meditation at The 'Ard's yoga and wellness rooms' In Newtownards. On the 3rd of March I am hosting a free demonstration of what I teach from 11.15- 13.15 This workshop is aimed at all those who work within the Charities community or Healthcare profession. This is a volunteer based endeavour which does not require funding, it is something that I simply want to share with those whom I think could benefit from what I teach the most. After the demonstration the participant would be able to evaluate if I can assist them or people that they work with in their professional environment. The workshop is designed to reduce stress and anxiety or any other kind of ailment such as depression or low self esteem. Also with Pain management or associated physical Impairment. I am hoping that one person from each organisation that I contact can attend this free demonstration and then if suitable I can work with that organisation as a unit, either at the studio in Newtownards or at a venue of their choosing For more information please contact me directly via mobile Philip Martin 07882470568

What is it     This workshop is primarily based around three basic body actions, there is a degree of  primary yoga movement, instruction on how to incorporate breath into this movement, followed by a period of deep relaxation,  finishing with a short meditation.  While it is based on the principles of yoga, it is quite unlike what might be called a typical ‘yoga class’ where the emphasis is often just on the physical practice.

What does it do/achieve   There are several benefits experienced after following this program. The participant will feel that any stress or anxiety that they were carrying has significantly reduced if not completely abated. There can be a sense that the issues which can trouble any one of us from time to time are not as insurmountable as  imagined, and that there are always options open to all of us.    The feeling of wellbeing is palpable and leaves the participant with an all-round sense of  greater vitality, which in turn can enthuse a greater sense of positivity. It’s something that I thoroughly  believe everyone should experience, at least once.

Who is it for?   This type of movement is relatively easy for most practitioners to undertake and therefore it is open to almost everyone, regardless of age or ability. The practice can be adapted to specific needs and the participants are encouraged to do only what they feel comfortable doing. Everyone who participates will benefit, of that, I have no doubt. But those who will benefit the most will inadvertently be those who suffer or struggle the most.     Therefore I am aiming this demonstration towards all of those in the charities or healthcare arena. This practice may benefit those who suffer from depression or any kind of addiction. It will help anyone who has difficulty ‘switching off’ or people who think too much! It would also be appropriate for a tired workforce or anyone who feels over-stretched. Basically, anyone and everyone who finds that life sometimes feels too demanding will benefit from this practice and therefore I am very keen to share this to others. The hope is that when the participant has experienced the tranquility that is there to be obtained, that they might then endeavor to make this practice part of their daily lives and regain a level of enthusiasm for life that may have been missing for a while.  I am primarily targeting anyone who works within the healthcare or caring profession and therefore I am contacting multiple charities and community groups. What I hope to make happen is for a representative from each of the organizations that I reach out to, to send one person to attend this workshop/demonstration. They would then be able  to ascertain whether the type of work that I do could be relevant within their organization, whether working with staff or patients,  vulnerable individuals or anyone at all who might be linked to their group/community who just needs to unwind.

Why it matters  It will not have gone unnoticed that we live in times of increasing hardship, financially, physically, and psychologically. It is also known that all of these difficulties/challenges  affect us all within the physical body that we occupy; we hold our stress, anxiety and trauma within. Therefore, any way that we can utilize that assists with coping or eradicating this negative feeling should be available to as many people as possible. What it is that I do is highly effective in equipping the participant and enabling them to ‘slow down’ and accomplish a state of mind that makes coping, so much easier! It’s not just another yoga class, it’s so much  more than that. So please try and find the time to attend and evaluate this unique workshop, you definitely won’t regret it.

Where and when is it? The event is taking place at ‘Ards Yoga and Wellness Rooms’ at 14-16 Conway square in Newtownards BT23 4DD on the 3rd of March from 11.15am- 13.15pm   I have 25 spaces so I have to limit it to one person per charity/organization.
