HELP SAVE LIVES
LEARN HOW TO RECOGNISE & RESPOND TO ALCOHOL HARM IN THE OVER 50s
1In Northern Ireland, the number of alcohol-related deaths has risen for the fourth consecutive year, with those aged 45-64 most at risk and a stark increase in the number of fatalities in the over 65s.
Drink Wise, Age Well is a National Lottery funded programme working in the Western Trust area to help the over 50s make healthier choices about alcohol.
If you come into contact with, or support older adults, we are running a free half-day training course to help you better understand the reasons behind this trend, and offer practical advice that could reduce this harm.
The informal session is designed for frontline staff who don’t usually support people with alcohol problems – e.g. housing officers, HR professionals and carers - but may be in a position to spot the signs, start the conversation and support people to get help.
