DISCOVER ME
Join us for the Discover ME Campaign, a targeted initiative designed to enhance awareness of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) across Northern Ireland.

This campaign seeks to challenge perceptions and enlighten attendees on the realities of living with M.E., promising an engaging and informative experience that surpasses traditional awareness efforts.

The campaign features the innovative "Discover ME" animated video, presented in a Virtual Reality format to deepen engagement and understanding. During the event, participants will experience a six-minute VR presentation that merges patient stories with VR technology, offering insights into the daily challenges faced by individuals with M.E.

This VR experience is crafted to educate and inform, highlighting aspects of M.E. that are often unseen. It is especially beneficial for healthcare providers, aiming to foster greater understanding and empathy through a direct, immersive experience.

Participants at each event will have the option to watch the "Discover ME" film using immersive Virtual Reality (VR) headsets, or on a computer as a standard video. This dual-viewing option ensures that all attendees can experience the film in a format that suits their comfort and accessibility needs.

We invite people to come along and join us in broadening your knowledge about M.E., contributing to better support and recognition of those affected by this condition.

About Discover ME

The "Discover ME" film was developed through a collaboration between Hope 4 ME charity and Professor Deepa Mann-Kler of Ulster University.

Initially inspired by the potential of virtual reality to aid fibromyalgia patients, the project evolved to focus on M.E. after substantial planning and discussions.

Despite setbacks due to the pandemic, the team adapted by integrating animation with patient narratives, culminating in a powerful VR experience.

This film aims to provide healthcare professionals and the wider public with a vivid insight into the lives of those affected by M.E.

About Hope 4 ME

Hope4 ME is a dedicated charity established to support individuals affected by M.E., spearheaded by founder, Joan McParland, after her own profound experiences with the disease.

Since gaining charity status in 2014, Hope4 ME has been a beacon of support, education, and advocacy, providing a range of services from specialist speakers at Zoom meetings to craft classes and impactful social gatherings.

Our efforts extend to organising conferences with global experts on M.E., aiming to foster a well-informed community that recognises the seriousness of the disease and the needs of those affected.
