Challenging Misogyny & Rape Culture

Nexus
Cost:
£30 per person
This session will explore what misogyny is and how it contributes to rape culture. It will explore the impact it has on those with lived experience and how we can play our part by challenging misogyny, sexism and attitudes that contribute to a rape culture.
There has been a significant rise in sexist behaviour and language in schools recently. A recent UNISON UK survey (2024) shows that misogyny, sexist language and gender stereotyping are a major issue in schools and that the impact of sexist online content on male pupils behaviour is concerning.
This transcends into adulthood and contributes to the already well established misogyny and rape culture that still exists in society.
This session has 30 spaces and will be delivered online via Teams to enable us to reach as many people across Northern Ireland as possible.
This session aims to increase your awareness of:
- What misogyny is.
- How misogyny and harmful sexualised attitudes and behaviours contribute to rape culture.
- The impact on society and those with lived experience.
- How to challenge these attitudes and reduce a victim blaming culture.
- How to help, support and report.
This is an interactive session and we welcome your open and honest discussion and engagement.
