Course Description:
It is fair to say that all of us will experience loss of some kind during our lifetime; this
could be in the form of job, home, health, etc. The living with loss course focuses
specifically on bereavement. The course will cover the four main models of the
mourning process I.e. Stages, Tasks, Phases and Dual Process. By the end of the
course, students will be able to identify a range of grief reactions, both psychological
and psychical. Students will also learn what might help those who have experienced
loss. The course involves group discussion and self-reflection. Please note that this
course is not recommended for those who have experienced bereavement in the past
6 months, as this is a highly emotive topic. (Duration of course: 3 hrs)
