Social enterprises locating into the Social Economy Village will benefit in a range of ways:

·          An opportunity to locate onto a purpose built site

·          Networking potential with like minded companies who serve a community as well as economic purpose

·          A supportive environment – through business development support and mentoring from Work West

·          Increased profile for the social economy sector as a whole, generating interest in each social enterprise tenant from potential customers and visitors to the site

·          A great location to access Belfast City Centre, the International Airport and the most parts of Northern Ireland within 1½ hours journey time

As well as providing rental accommodation the Village also houses dedicated conference and training facilities (up to 80 theatre style) as well as smaller meeting rooms.

The Social Economy Village has been developed by Work West, the trading name of West Belfast Development Trust Ltd, a Local Enterprise Agency operating for the benefit of businesses and community organisations in West Belfast. The Trust is a company limited by guarantee, which was granted charitable status in 2007. Work West provides a range of enterprise support services for small businesses and communities. The Social Economy Village brings together the two aspects of our work: supporting the social economy sector to develop and grow and providing workspace.

The Social Economy Village is located on Hannahstown Hill, Belfast.

The Phase 1 development of the Social Economy Village has been supported by the International Fund for Ireland and the Peace II Extension Programme, a European Programme administed by DETI.
