WOMAD Outreach Programme has lift off

The 1st Phase (Creative Legacies) of the WOMAD outreach programme started on Tuesday 14th May with a Ugandan Gaze Dance workshop at Holy Family Primary School.

The Creative Legacies World Of Music, Arts & Dance programme, which is the first phase of the WOMAD Outreach Programme, will see workshops hosted throughout Belfast schools based around world culture through music, arts and dance. Part of the programme will include the first WOMAD showcase event on 21st June (World Music Day) at T13 Shared Space, Titanic Quarter. (10am - 3pm)
Belfast City Council's Creative Legacies and City of Festivals programmes are supported under the Belfast PEACE III Plan by the European Union's European Regional Development Fund through the PEACE III Programme.
On offer are many forms of world culture arts workshops from Uganda Gaze Dance to South American Charango (Guitar) to Warli Indian Arts.

What makes this programme very exciting is that very participant of a WOMAD workshop must perform or showcase thier new World Music, Dance or Arts skills in a public space (WOMAD showcase event s and Festivals). Also in July we are launching OCN level 1 WOMAD creative workshops.
