Sustainable Independent Public Interest Journalism event

VIEWdigital editor Brian Pelan will be "In Conversation..." with Roisin Wood, Chief Executive of the Community Foundation Northern Ireland to discuss sustainable independent public interest journalism, at Ulster University, Belfast.

 

Community activists and media professionals interested in sustainable independent public interest journalism are invited to discuss whether communities are getting enough from the journalism industry?

There have been calls on the UK Government to prioritise small independent news publishers by the Public Interest News Foundation. This follows a report by the cross-party Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Select Committee on the sustainability of local news.

The event on July 3 has been organised by NUJ member Una Murphy, co-founder of VIEWdigital, an independent community journalism social enterprise based in Belfast, with support from the National Union of Journalists Belfast & District branch.
