The STAR Awards deadline has been extended to the 24th November

Haven’t had a chance to get your nomination in for the 2015 STAR Awards yet? Well now you have a few more days to get it ready as we have extended the deadline to Monday 24th November.

AONTAS – The National Adult Learning Organisation is inviting nominations from adult learning organisations across Ireland for the 2015 STAR Awards. The STAR Awards is part of the annual Adult Learners' Festival and recognises the contribution that adult learning makes to individuals, our economy and our local communities. Since the first STAR Awards in 2007 68 projects across Ireland have received a STAR Award by providing outstanding examples of adult learning. This year, we invite nominations from a variety of organisations who provide education and training, including those where education has helped adults with challenges such as unemployment, homelessness, mental health, addiction and disability.

The independent panel of judges from the education, business and technology sectors will have the hard task of shortlisting the nominations. Then in early February the chosen projects will get to meet the judges face to face in regional meetings to try and convince them why their project should win!  An award will be given to one small/medium project and one large project in each province. There will also be one nationwide award. The 9 overall winners will be announced at the STAR Awards ceremony in the Ballsbridge Hotel on the 23rd February 2015. A participant from one of the winning projects said that “the STAR Awards has been a fantastic experience and opportunity for us. Winning for us validates the work we are doing and really encourages us to continue.”

The closing date of Monday 24th November is fast approaching and the easiest way to nominate is through the online form at www.adultlearnersfestival.com/starawards/nominate. If you have any queries just email Kathryn, Festival Operations Officer at [email protected]
