Social Enterprise Qualification Launch

Are you an organisation looking at ways to diversify or sustain your current activities? Have you considered exploring Social Enterprise as a business model? Perhaps you work with community groups and could support them to explore this.

The Social Enterprise Qualification is a level 2 accredited course and suitable for Community groups, Young People, Youth Organisations and other Third Sector organisations. The qualification is learning through doing where you will have the opportunity to explore what social enterprise means, work up ideas for a business and develop these into trading entities.

Leaders will attend a one day course to learn how to deliver the awards and then act as mentors to help plan and deliver a socially enterprising idea. This is an opportunity for people to experience how making money can be used for social good, organise events; build management skills whilst all the time thinking about the social impact they might have.

The awards have a range of levels where participants can develop a business idea, explore social issues, develop products and enjoy working as part of a team. The SEQ was first piloted in 2010, and is now supported by such organisations as the Eden project and Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen

Employers For Childcare will be officially launching the Social Enterprise Qualification on 3rd of October at Stormont in the Long Gallery from 12- 3pm. The launch will showcase the work of some of the young people who have already completed the qualification and provide an opportunity to hear from the Real Ideas organisation, who developed the SEQ.
