Social Enterprise Newry & Mourne (SENAM)

Social Enterprise Newry & Mourne will provide Business Analysis, Strategic Planning, Tailored Mentoring Support, Business Development Workshops and Master Classes and Facilitate Collaborations and External Learning Visits for social enterprises.

Newry & Mourne Enterprise Agency are delivering and exciting new business support programme for Social Enterprises. Social Enterprise Newry & Mourne is an initiative targeted at the social economy sector in the Newry and Mourne District. The Social Enterprise Newry & Mourne (SENAM) Programme will work with and support 20 businesses within the social enterprise sector.

Welcoming the investment in local social enterprise support Stephen McClelland; the programme lead described SENAM as “a unique collaboration between Invest NI, the European Regional Development Fund and Newry & Mourne District Council, We at Newry & Mourne Enterprise Agency are delighted to be delivering this initiative. This programme will help local social enterprises to cooperate more effectively, to win new business and enter new markets. It is about helping communities to help themselves.”

The Programme aims to provide a strategic service to social enterprises to develop and deepen the relationship and the opportunities for trade between social businesses in Newry & Mourne and externally.  SENAM’s Programme of activity contains several interconnected elements, where the priority is the promotion and support of sustainable social enterprise and entrepreneurship. 

It is anticipated that the proposed programme of support will:

  • Improve productivity and competitiveness;
  • Contribute to socially inclusive wealth creation;
  • Enable social enterprises to contribute to regenerating their local neighbourhoods;
  • Identify new ways to deliver public services; and
  • Help to develop an inclusive society and active citizenship.
