Musgrave Wins Sustained Impact Gong

Musgrave Retail Partners NI has won the Sustained Impact Award at the 2012 Business in the Community Regional Impact Awards, for its 10 year partnership with local charity Action Cancer.

The accolade, which recognises Musgrave as ‘the organisation that best demonstrates significant social impact during the past decade with a specific long-term partnership or ongoing programme of responsible activity’ was introduced this year for the first time.

Musgrave’s entry focussed on two programmes of support for Action Cancer, including the backing Centra and its independent retailers give to the charity’s Health Action programme for schools, which aims to educate young people in healthier lifestyles to avoid cancer. SuperValu’s support of the Action Cancer Big Bus helps to bring life-saving screening and health promotion services to communities across the country.

SuperValu and Centra stores have raised over £1.7million for Action Cancer since 2001 and 450,000 people have used the two services.
