The Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) is urgently seeking new volunteers for a range of one-off activities which will help the charity raise funds and continue services, supporting cancer patients and their families inNorthern Ireland.

Morag Chambers, Volunteer Co-ordinator with UCF said, “Volunteers make a vital contribution to our work and bring additional skills and knowledge to the charity.  We couldn’t provide our range of service without them and in return our volunteers have told us that they enjoy the experience of taking on new challenges.  Volunteering is an excellent way of meeting new people, improving your sense of well-being and it can also boost your career options by giving you hands on experience in different kinds of work.

“We understand that people are very busy in their day-to-day lives however even if you have only a few hours to spare on a one off occasion please contact us - your support, no matter how small, can add incredible value to our work.”

Fundraising volunteers are vital and raise thousands of pounds each year for UCF which is spent on supporting cancer patients in Northern Ireland.  UCF are looking for volunteers to help with street collections on Easter Monday in Bangor, Saturday 5th May in Strabane, Monday 7th May in Holywood, Saturday 2nd June and Friday 6th July in Limavady and Saturday 21st July in Omagh.  Volunteers are always welcome to join their local UCF fundraising group, particularly in theNorth West, and also to help out at their local UCF charity shop.

There are also one-off volunteering opportunities in administration namely packing envelopes on the last week of April and first week of June in Belfast and folding clothing donation bags throughout April, May and June in Belfast and L’Derry.  If you would like to get involved in crafts you can help make sun care bracelets inBelfastthroughout April, May and June.  UCF are also looking for volunteers to recruit new members to the ‘EnjoyIreland’ website where they can access discounts in local restaurants, hotels, tourist attractions etc.  Each new member to register with ‘Enjoy Ireland’, through a UCF volunteer, results in a £4.50 donation to UCF so we the charity is keen to enlist volunteers from across Northern Ireland to help drive recruitment.

A full induction, appropriate training, on-going support and out of pocket expenses are all provided.  If you would like to find out more please contact Morag Chambers on 028 9068 0773 or email [email protected]
