This is a new post based at our offices in Holywood to work with our tenants in providing a high quality money and debt advice service, improving the uptake of welfare benefits, and liaising with external agencies.
Welfare Advice Officer
Job No 281 (37 hours p/w)
Salary NJC scales 4/5/6/SO1 points 20 – 29 £19,430– £25,951 per annum and essential car user allowance
Based at our office in Holywood
You must have:
- Educated to A level standard or equivalent Level 3 qualification;
- IT literate, with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel and PowerPoint;
- At least 1 years’ experience in the last 3 years of delivering welfare benefits and money advice;
- Access to private transport for business use;
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Knowledge of current housing benefit and welfare rights legislation policy and practice;
- Experience of building networks and liaising with other agencies.
Desirable criteria:
- Experience of delivering training;
- Knowledge of social housing;
- Ability to write and develop strategies, policies and procedures;
- Citizens Advice Advisor Training programme or Law Centre NI WRAP qualification;
- Evidence of vocational training/requirements.
