We are currently looking for a Relief Activity Support Worker to support with activities for People who have Autism and associated learning difficulties.

Your role will involve supporting people with Autism with their everyday living.  However, your primary job role will be to support people with a wide range of needs, empowering the People supported to pursue their interests and hobbies, support their health and wellbeing and be a part of their local community.

Essential

  • Working, voluntary or personal knowledge of providing care and/or support.
  • Be flexible to work according to the needs of our services.
  • NISCC registered, or apply to register on appointment.
  • A keen interest outdoor activities such as walking, hill walking and or swimming.
  • The successful applicant would be expected to keep up pace with the Person supported for walks (up to 12 kilometres per walk, up to three times per week). The successful applicant would also be expected to remain in the pool with the Person supported during swimming lessons.

An interest in outdoor/indoor Activities is essential, as Activities will include the below:

Long Walks, including Nature Walks and occasional Hill walks:

  • Up to three times per week.
  • Up to a maximum distance of 12 Kilometres per walk (the distance may vary depending on the Person supported).
  • The successful applicant would be expected to keep pace.

Swimming

  • Up to two times per week.
  • The successful applicant would be expected to remain in the pool with the Person supported and support the Person supported as they move around the swimming pool and make use of the facilities, including the Jacuzzi.
  • The timing of each swim session may vary depending on the Person supported, usually no longer than 40 minutes per swim session).

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Autism, communication difficulties and resulting behaviour that challenges.
