The Department for Communities invites applications for the appointment of a Chair and 9 Members to the Historic Monuments Council, which is a statutory advisory council to the Department.

This is an opportunity for individuals, who wish to use their skills and experience, to make a significant contribution to the protection and development of Northern Ireland’s historic environment. Applications are welcome from a wide range of people who have an interest in public service, including those with suitable experience gained in the community, voluntary, business or public sectors. The individual appointed will receive training and a relevant induction programme. We are operating a Guaranteed Interview Scheme for candidates with a disability.

 

Criteria and Appointment Details

Applicants for the Chair and Member positions must be able to demonstrate a number of competences relating to communication and interpersonal skills, providing effective advice, relevant experience and, for Chair applicants only, leading to deliver results.

The Chair and Members are expected to be appointed from 1 February 2018 for a term of 5 years. These positions are unpaid but individuals are eligible for an allowance for travelling and other expenses. The time commitment for the Chair is approximately 3 days per month, with the time commitment for Members approximately 1 day per month.
