Government Affairs Officer - Northern Ireland

Based at our Bangor Offices in County Down

The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland.  At the Woodland Trust, we influence policy makers and opinion formers, to work with us to ensure society fully maximises the benefits and opportunities trees and woods contribute in the 21st century.

Working as part of the Northern Ireland team, the Government Affairs Officer will help the Trust deliver its strategic plan through increasing its influence amongst decision makers. You will particularly focus on ensuring the Trust has a strong understanding of external developments on woods and trees, respond to Government consultations, play a key role in event organisation and the provision of both written and oral briefings.

A commitment to the Trust’s aims is a must, as are outstanding written and verbal communication skills and an understanding of current affairs and political processes in the context of environmental and heritage issues.

You’ll need a strong understanding of current affairs and must be able to demonstrate experience of influencing policy and building strategic relationships with national decision-makers and policy influencers.
