Children of the Nations UK & Ireland is looking for a Finance and Grants Officer to join our team on a permanent, part-time basis working 22.5 hours per week. This is a home-based position with weekly meetings in Belfast.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated finance professional to bring together Christian faith and financial expertise to support our ministry’s aims and objectives locally and internationally. If you are passionate about the Gospel and improving the lives of children in Africa and the Caribbean, this is a rare chance to play a leading role in supporting international grantee partners to achieve excellence in financial management, stewardship and accountability. 

The Role

As Finance and Grants Officer, you will have responsibilities related to the different stages of grants including conducting comprehensive reviews of monthly finance reporting presented by our international grantees, flagging areas of concern and assisting with subsequent communication, in accordance with the Christian principles and ethos with which the charity operates. You will also identify training needs and provide consultation support and spiritual encouragement to finance staff supporting the direct care of children in Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. You will administer the finances of Children of the Nations UK & Ireland, processing donations, gift aid, payments, international transfers, managing payroll and preparing budgets and reports. 

Additionally, you will:

  • Support the annual budgeting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with agreed standards
  • Provide oversight to monthly granting process, ensuring funds are granted in line with commitments and according to standard procedures
  • Work as part of a team raising the profile of Children of the Nations in the UK and Ireland

The nature of the role and the context in which it is carried out dictates that it is a genuine occupational requirement that the person appointed must be a Christian, subscribing to the Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct of Children of the Nations UK & Ireland.
