Family Support Worker

The Family Support Worker will support parents to promote parenting skills to achieve positive change and encourage children's development. This may include working with families experiencing difficulties such as postnatal depression, isolation, mental health issues, autism, drugs or alcohol abuse, children with delayed development or children named on the Child Protection Register. This will involve working closely with our Family Support Co-ordinator and Scheme Manager to manage an active case of families requiring support.
The worker will visit families weekly in the family home and provide emotional support, practical support and help families to become more involved in the local community. The post will involve setting objectives with and carrying out a planned piece of work with each family.
The Family Support Worker will complete one to one activities with children to support their physical, emotional and academic development. They will also encourage parents with behaviour management, support children with special needs, help set up family routines and household management, help with budgeting or nutrition and encourage the bond between parent and child.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced Access NI Check.
