Ballymena and Little Steps Sure Start Projects are funded by the Department of Education to provide a range of Play & Early Learning, Family support and Health services to children from pre-birth up to four years old and their families. Both Projects comprise of a Multi-Agency and Multi-Disciplinary team who work in close partnership with a range of local Statutory, Voluntary and Community groups to promote effective service delivery in response to the needs of families across the designated Sure Start areas. An integrated management system is in place across both Little Steps and Ballymena Sure Start Projects, therefore at times, you will be required to work flexibly across other sites and venues within both Antrim and Ballymena.

As an Early Years Worker you will be required to work as part of a team to help plan and deliver children's programmes in a stimulating environment. You will demonstrate a sound understanding of child development, the value of play and how young children learn. You will display an understanding of attachment and the impact of positive adult interactions on a child's development and sense of wellbeing. You will be required to demonstrate an underpinning knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality, record keeping and IT skills. These are casual permanent positions to support the existing Early Years Teams. Once you are a casual member of staff you will be able to apply for part time and full time positions advertised internally within the Project/Organisation. This post is paying £7.93 per hour.

By assessing the needs and interests of children and providing stimulating, good quality play experiences tailored to meet these needs.

By demonstrating an understanding of attachment and modelling the importance of positive adult interactions on a child's development and sense of wellbeing.

By taking responsibility for ensuring targets are met as part of the Project's business plan

By having strong communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and inter agency context ensuring high standards of record keeping and communication with other professionals within the team.

By being able to work flexible hours to provide cover for regular staff.

What you'll need:

 

Level 2 Qualification in Early Years Care and Education or equivalent - applications will also be considered for those who are working towards their Level 2 Qualification in Early Years Care and Education

An understanding of the Minimum Standards for Daycare and Childminding for Children under age 12

6 months previous experience of working within a childcare environment with children aged between 0-4 years

Applications will only be considered for those applicants who can demonstrate an ability to meet the travel expectations associated with working flexibly across all 3 sites.
