The Sure Start Developmental programme for two and three year olds is a Sure Start funded programme.

For children aged between two and three. The focus is on child led, heuristic play. We use open ended natural materials and plan our activities based on observations carried out on individual children. This is to ensure individual needs are fully met. The four key developmental areas are physical development, social and emotional development, speech and language development and thinking and exploring. There is an emphasis on working in partnership with parents and parents are expected to participate in the programme. The programme receives input from a Speech and Language therapist and Health Visitor.

Support is provided for staff through supervisions, termly support visits and cluster sessions.

Overall organising and managing of the programme

Record keeping and paperwork

Manage staff and student

Set up room prior to session, Prepare snacks

Clean room after the session

Interact with children

Carry out observations and tracking

Assist with planning

Facilitate stay and play sessions

Take responsibility for key children

Carry out home visits to key children once per term

Carry out risk assessments

Carry out safety checks

Work with parents

Report and record any safeguarding issues

Attend and participate in supervisions

 

Other Responsibilities:

Attend cluster meetings once per term

Attend training as and when required

Work with other professionals

Attend team meetings

Other duties as and when they arise

Competently use computer system

Prepare for and oversee annual social services inspection

Carry out year appraisals

Essential Requirements

Diploma in Children's Care Learning and Development - Level 3 or equivalent

Minimum 1 year experience children and families aged 0 - 4.

 

Experience managing staff

Experience of Working with Children aged 0 - 4

Experience within a childcare setting

Experience working with children with additional needs

Experience of carrying out observations and planning

Experience working with children with challenging behaviour

Early years training for the developmental programme for two and three year olds
