Cook (Part-time) at the Corrymeela Centre Ballycastle

A part-time (25-hours per week), permanent position has become available within the Kitchen Team at the Corrymeela Centre, Ballycastle,commencing mid September 2012. The salary is £14,500 p.a. pro rata.

The Corrymeela Centre provides meals for up to 150 people per day.  These can vary from family groups with many children, to groups of teenagers and adult conference groups.  The variety of groups means differing demands on style, volume and range of food produced.  This will include vegetarian meals as well as a broad menu of meat dishes and will also include baking.

Key tasks

 1.         To prepare, cook and deliver meals in conjunction with other members of the Kitchen Team and volunteers.

 2.         To ensure the maintenance of the necessary standards of hygiene and health and safety required in all the kitchen areas. This includes regular cleaning duties of equipment, utensils and the kitchen as a whole.

 3.         As part of the Kitchen Team to work in sympathy with the aims and purposes of the Corrymeela Community, with an attitude that is both flexible and supportive to the needs of the groups and staff using the Centre.

 Staff have to be willing to be trained in the use of all equipment and materials and must observe health and safety requirements and procedures.  The person appointed will work on a rota system which includes evenings until 7.00pm and weekends.
