Community Coordinator - Northern Ireland

Pancreatic Cancer UK

From 23000 To 26000
21.00

A home-based opportunity to be local representative of Pancreatic Cancer UK, making connections and supporting a great cause.

Pancreatic cancer is the tenth most common cancer in the UK, with 9,400 people diagnosed each year. For decades pancreatic cancer has remained on the side-lines, but things are changing.  We’ve seen the start of positive change in treatment and care for pancreatic cancer patients. Today five year survival rates across the UK have increased from 3% to 5% - a long overdue increase but still far too low.  Our ten-year vision is to transform the future for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer.

We will work to increase research spend to a game changing £25 million. We will campaign for improved access to treatments, and better care for everyone with the disease. We will double the reach of our flagship service, the Pancreatic Cancer UK Support Line.

We can’t do this alone. We can only succeed as part of a determined community of people who share our ambitions.  The purpose of this role is to be our local representative in Northern Ireland engaging with the community of existing and potential supporters.

Working from a home base in central Northern Ireland, you will collaborate with a locally based Regional Nurse but work remotely with London based staff on a wide range of UK wide initiatives and campaigns.  You’ll need your own car to drive throughout the region, making connections, disseminating information and coordinating volunteers and supporters.

You’ll be well organised, a natural networker and communicator, with good office administration and IT skills and some experience of volunteering or working with volunteers in a community based role.  Experience of volunteering or supporting a cancer charity is very welcome, but most important is your commitment to our work, our ambitions and our values.

You will have the opportunity to learn and develop a broad understanding of our work as our local representative.  Your reward will be the opportunity to be part of a growing organisation and to make a difference for all those affected by pancreatic cancer in Northern Ireland.

This is a part time role, 3 days / week with an initial one year contract.
