Accommodation and Community Support Worker-Entry Level

To work as part of a team to provide effective 24 hour case management support services (accommodation units, transition into the community, within the community or hub. where in place) as required.

Reports To: Team Leader

Salary: £16, 705 per annum (£9.18 per hour). A range of additional benefits are also available.

Department: Homelessness Services

Location: Armagh and Portadown. While the current vacancies exist within Armagh and Portadown services you may also be required to work within other sites (temporarily or permanently) within reason when needs arise.

Hours of Work: Rotation shift pattern (average of 35 hours per week) including the requirement to work evenings, weekends and waking nights. Based on allocation to a 24 x 7 rotational shift pattern. Currently, the shift pattern is based on 12.5 hour shifts however this may be subject to change based on business needs. Reasonable hours outside of this may be required to fulfil the duties of this position.

Job Purpose: To work as part of a team to provide effective 24 hour case management support services (accommodation units, transition into the community, within the community or hub. where in place) as required.

Essential Criteria

1. Maths and English GCSE at Grade C OR an equivalent qualification.

2. Six months' recent full time equivalent (either paid or voluntary) of directly supporting people with complex and multiple needs within a residential or community setting gained within the last three years. Complex needs include the following areas:

  • Homelessness Prevention
  • Substance Misuse
  • Offending
  • Mental Health
  • Young People

3. Ability to demonstrate the core values of the Simon Community to include the following:

4. IT Skills-Ability to use email, internet and databases to electronically record support work (within SCNI we use a client recording system called OSKA but previous use of this is not essential).

5. NISCC Registered (or subject to agreeing and being successfully registered if appointed) and confirmation of willingness to be subject to and the organisation obtaining a suitable ACCESS NI checks.

Desirable Criteria

1. Valid driving license and access to a car or other form of transport to undertake duties associated with the role.
