Anyone within our community, our work place, our social network or our family could be at risk of suicide.
But how do we know someone is depressed, how do we talk safely to them and how do we get them the help they need? This programme will give you the answers to these questions and the skills you need to save someone’s life. You will be able to practise your own skills safely through watching specially developed videos.
This programme is suitable for anyone over the age of 16 who wants to learn the skills to save someone from suicide.
Having completed this programme you will have a better understanding of
- Why people consider suicide to reduce their pain
- Who is at most risk of suicide in our communities
- Why someone at risk of suicide may not ask for help
- Why you might not help someone you are concerned about
- How to communicate safely effectively with someone at risk
- Who you should link someone at risk to an appropriate source of help
