Youth Council for Northern Ireland

Youth Council for Northern Ireland

Youth Council for Northern Ireland (YCNI) presents the inCREDible Drama Toolkit at a location near you during the week beginning Monday 21 May 2012. We invite you to come and join us and take to the stage!

The Toolkit is a practical resource for youth workers and teachers to support them to use drama techniques to explore community relations, equality, diversity (CRED) and citizenship themes with young people.

YCNI are calling for expressions of interest from youth workers and teachers who might wish to participate in a one day road-show event that will demonstrate key exercises from the new Toolkit and offer practical guidance on how you might use some of the activities in your work. All participants will receive a hardcopy of the toolkit at the end of the workshop.

The toolkit includes:

  • Ice-breakers and warm-up exercises
  • Using more in-depth exercises to help open up challenging discussions
  • Drama and performance activities
  • Using puppetry to explore community relations, diversity, equality and citizenship with young people
  • Using Storytelling Techniques
  • Four short scripts

Road-show events are FREE of charge and will take place in three locations:

  • Armagh (Tuesday 22nd May)
  • Derry-Londonderry (Wednesday 23rd May), and
  • Belfast (Thursday 24th May)

 Venues to be confirmed.

Each road-show event will commence with a performance of the four scripts contained within the Toolkit followed by demonstrations of practical exercises to help tease out the themes explored. The workshop in the afternoon will be replicated in Armagh and Derry-Londonderry however the afternoon workshop in Belfast will demonstrate a range of alternative activities, therefore offering participants the opportunity to sample a further range of activities.

If you are interested in participating please complete and return the attached expressions of interest form to Joanne Stainsby, by 12 NOON on Friday 20 April 2012.
