The Ulster Cancer Foundation’s (UCF) prostate cancer support group is holding its next meeting on Wednesday 29th February at 7.30pm in Agnes Jones House, Altnagelvin Area Hospital, L’Derry.

The prostate cancer support group aims to help patients develop a holistic approach to living with cancer and is complementary to any ongoing medical treatment. This meeting will be facilitated by UCF’s locally based counselor. Theresa McSwiney and Urology Nurse Specialist, Kerry Chambers.  Mr Derek Henderson, Specialist Registrar in Urology will also be attending to talk about erectile dysfunction for men with prostate cancer.

Deirdre said, “The support group is open to anyone who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, as well as carers, family and friends and we extend a very warm welcome to all new members.  There is no commitment to attend each session and everyone is welcome to come as often and for as long as they wish.

“The support group meetings areinformal and there is no pressure to speak about your experiences; you can just come along and listen to what is being said.   Patients in the past have gained a lot from talking to people who are in, or have been in, a similar situation as this can help to reduce feelings of anxiety, fear and isolation and improve quality of life.”

Light refreshments will be available. For furtherinformation or to confirm your attendance please contact Eileen Creery at UCF on Tel. 028 9068 0742
