Green therapy in action
Positive Steps Outdoors have an upcoming green therapy programme for this spring and summer, focusing on promoting positive mental health through nature walks with mindfulness-based coaching. Here are the key details: • Programme Structure: Half-day midweek and full-day weekend events offer flexibility. • Dates and Locations: Various scenic locations including Divis and Black Mountains, Donard Forest, Tollymore Forest Park, Mournes area and more with events from May to Sep 24. • Accessibility: Suitable for all fitness levels, no prior experience required. • Equipment Loaned: We can provide equipment as part of the fee for hassle-free walks.

As an employer a great way to meet your responsibility to promote positive mental and physical health in your staff is to provide opportunities for people to follow the Public Health Agency’s 5 Steps to Wellbeing.

Taking these steps outdoors has been shown to be more impactful in providing the chance to get active, reflect, de-stress and take notice mindfully, connect with others, learn about history and the environment, and give back by supporting others.

Positive Steps Outdoors is a local social enterprise. Our Healthy Hikes programme in the spring and summer of 2024 provides the ideal opportunity to promote positive mental health and well-being. Hikes take place midweek and at weekends and include the chance to avail of mindfulness techniques based coaching. They are unhurried, unpressured, suitable for most people of average fitness, do not require prior experience and are led by qualified walk leaders, first aiders and coaches / counsellors and are fully risk assessed and insured. We can even loan equipment. No pressure, no expectations.
