Guide Dogs for the Blind are holding a volunteer information roadshow on Thursday 21st June in Portadown town centre.

Any individuals or groups who are interested are warmly invited to drop by to for information on how to get involved any time between1pmand4pm.  You will have the opportunity to meet some of Guide Dogs staff and current volunteers.

The roadshow is a brilliant opportunity to meet local guide dog owners already benefiting from the charity’s work. Talking to them about their involvement with the charity and the difference having a guide dog has made to their lives will prove vital in realising how important volunteer help can be.Jolene Boral Volunteer Development Coordinator from Guide Dogs said: “There are so many ways to volunteer. We’re looking for fundraisers, volunteer drivers, branch secretaries and treasurers, collection box coordinators and sighted guides. You can volunteer as an individual, or become involved in our local fundraising team. Volunteering is fun and rewarding – you know you are helping to make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially-sighted people.”

The charity is keen to raise its presence in the Portadown area and gain support to build a local volunteer fundraising team.

Guide Dogs are entirely funded by voluntary donations, and the charity needs support from volunteers to maximise its services for blind and partially-sighted people.

Anyone interested in volunteering or fundraising for Guide Dogs is invited to attend the local roadshow or contact Guide Dogs’ Volunteering Team on 0845 371 7771 or by emailing [email protected]
