The aim of this seminar is to assist Vountary & Community Sector employers seeking to benchmark and review their main equality policy & practices against best practice equality indicators.
This is the first in a series of 5 short best practice seminars designed to assist Voluntary & Community Sector employers to benchmark their current employment practice against recommended equality best practice.
Learning Objectives: By the end of the seminar participants should have had an opportunity to consider:
- The key elements of the anti-discrimination legislation relating to the duty to promote equality of opportunity in employment.
- Best practice equality indicators outlined in Chapters 4 to 9 of the Unified Guide to Promoting Equality of Opportunity in Employment. Themes explored include Promoting Equality, Preventing Harassment, Equality Monitoring and Affirmative or Positive Action.
- Signposting to additional relevant guidance documents & support including ECNI Short Guides to Good & Harmonious Working; Promoting Positive Action and Promoting Equality in Volunteering.
- Factors to consider in relation to individual equality grounds.
Participants will also receive one to one follow-up assistance with specific policy development as required.
