The conference will provide space for RCN to listen to the concerns and barriers that churches, and church congregations, are facing when endeavouring to undertake peace-building work.

Rural Community Network would like to invite you to attend a conference and workshop which will highlight the work which many churches are currently engaging in to encourage peace building within local communities.

These ‘listening days’ are focused on our ambition to help churches and their congregations to identify opportunities and to share ideas with others who have successfully addressed the barriers they faced when engaging in community-based peace building work.  A number of guest speakers have been invited to share their experiences of community development and peace-building work with you. Derek Poole of CCWA (Churches Community work Alliance) will set the context of the work from a biblical perspective, taking account of the current Northern Ireland situation and will explore the issue of ‘Tolerance is Not Enough’. Rev. Earl Storey will also talk about his experience of working at building peace and leadership within in church congregations. A number of other speakers will also input into the day. RCN is interested in using the findings from these days to support and work alongside churches and their congregations to build lasting peace in Northern Ireland. Please note we are limited to 50 places for this event.
