This course will cover a range of aspects of dementia and also how it relates to adults with a learning disability.

Knowledge of the law on consent is an essential tool for every practitioner working in in any health or social care setting. Respect for a client’s rights to make their own decision is an essential aspect of practice. Clients have the right to make their own decisions, even if they are unwise decisions, if they have sufficient decision making capacity to do so. Where a client does not have decision making capacity for a specific decision, the practitioner should then assess the alternatives provided by current NI Legislation and Common Law, and in consultation with named others, to proceed in the client’s best interests.

Award-winning charity Autonomie is hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning this Saturday (September 28) in Belfast. The open event will be held at the charity's centre Lilac House (Linked Independent Living and Advice Centre) and is being organised by young people with additional needs in the community that attend the charity's practical activity programme Freedom2Choose.

Join us on Thursday 10 November (9.00am - 1.00pm, including lunch). This is a great opportunity for fundraisers in Northern Ireland to connect and learn from peers across the local sector, with facilitated group discussion on the fundraising challenges and opportunities facing us all. The morning will centre around how we best use the capacity at our disposal, how we're employing digital solutions to support our work and how we collaborate and support across the sector. Futures Project is a personal development training programme for 16-24 year olds in Northern Ireland and we are looking for participants for our January intake!

Roísín and Chris are launching a new Futures programme in Belfast. This group is open to young people aged 16-24 in the Belfast area. This is an inclusive LGBTQ+ project. The six month programme focuses on; personal development, communication, wellness, team work skills and leadership. You will receive £8 per day you attend, travel costs and child care assistance.

The National Lottery Community Fund are reviewing their grant making and want to hear from community groups about what matters most to their communities.

This event explores how community development approaches are being used to tackle issues of inequality, poverty and promote social justice. This event will appeal to professionals across the fields of social work, health, education, community and youth work.
