Men Volunteers WomenDrumbeg North and South is a predominately Nationalist community in Craigavon. Drumbeg North and South Resident Association (DNSRA) have been established since 2002 and operate from a community house based at 501 Drumbeg South. The house is let by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. DNSRA’s work is based on the fundamental view that those who have experienced conflict and violence, both as perpetrators and as victims, are key resources in the conflict transformation model of peace building. Also, that their personal experience and understanding of local issues acts as a catalyst for challenging attitudes and creative action. Our practice is fundamentally rooted in a trust building process that redefines and restructures relationships so that people can work together in respectful and interdependent ways. Our programme is focused on a community and individuals who have experienced high levels of conflict and its consequences and therefore need to develop their own capacity to implement appropriate methods that both works towards and supports Social Cohesion through Good Relations and Community Development practice. DNSRA’s commitment to building Community Cohesion is predicated on securing local participation, developing leadership capacity and nurturing a culture of learning based on Community Planning values and standards of practice.
