Shared Lives Plus

Shared Lives Plus is a charity which leads the UK network for family-based and small-scale ways of supporting adults. Our members are Shared Lives carers, Schemes and Homeshare programmes. We do not set up or run Shared Lives schemes directly but support and advise our member schemes, produce information and guidance; and campaign with and for small community and family-based services.  There are currently 4 Shared Lives schemes (also known as adult placement schemes) managed or funded by Health Trusts in Northern Ireland. Shared Lives Plus has been funded by the Big Lottery to work with the Health & Social Care sector as part of the reform of adult social care to develop more person-centred community based care options like Shared Lives.  As part of this work the Health & Social Care Board is leading on a regional expansion project with Health Trusts to grow their existing learning disability schemes but also develop new services for older people and other groups.
