Going BIG for Volunteers’ Week 2016

Volunteer Now is encouraging organisations to go BIG for Volunteers' Week 2016 which has been extended by 5 days and will enable more people than ever to get involved!

Volunteers’ Week takes place during 1 – 12 June 2016 and will recognise the contribution volunteers make to our communities every day.  This year the campaign has been extended by an additional five days, enabling more people than ever to take part in the BIG Celebration.

Local charities will hold events to thank their volunteers and celebrate the power of volunteering to bring communities together. For many, the week will also be a chance to showcase the wide range of volunteering opportunities on offer and to encourage more people to try volunteering for the first time.

Volunteer Now has a range of merchandise (free to volunteer involving organisations) to support their participation in Volunteers’ Week celebrations.

Wendy Osborne OBE, Chief Executive, Volunteer Now said, "Volunteer Now is delighted that Volunteers' Week has been extended - even more reason to celebrate those wonderful individuals who offer their time to help others.  There is currently over a quarter of a milllion volunteers in Northern Ireland who all play a vital role; from volunteer drivers to sports coaches, from hospital volunteers to those working in charity shops.   Volunteers' Week gives us the opportunity to shine the spotlight on these local people and give them the recognition and thanks they deserve."

Wendy added; " We hope voluntary and community groups and charities will avail of the Volunteers' Week merchandise we can offer (free to volunteer involving organisations) to support their participation in the celebrations."
