Youth Employment Coach, Job Ref. JO3133 Based in Draperstown (with travel) Fixed Term Contract to 8th March 2019 (Maternity cover post) Salary £20,000 PA 37.5 hours per week

Our client was established in 1989 and specialises in the delivery of employability initiatives.  As a result of continued growth, they wish to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified Youth Employment Coach for their Up for Work programme in Draperstown.  The Up for Work programme, is part funded by ESF and DfE, and supports young unemployed people (aged between 16 and 24 years old) in the Magherafelt, Cookstown and Dungannon areas.

Job Purpose:
To facilitate programme participants progression to training, further education or employment through provision of action planning, skills development, one to one mentoring and job search support.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively manage a caseload of young people who are seeking employment ensuring individual learning and employment needs are addressed and appropriate support is in place.
Induct new participants on to the programme by providing accurate information about the services and the support available.
Carry out in depth assessment of participants’ needs, identifying and addressing personal barriers to employment.
Develop Action Plans to address the barriers that are preventing the young person finding and sustaining work.
Identify suitable vocational training opportunities for participants both within the company and externally.
Provide job search support including CV preparation, interview skills and organizing work experience/volunteering.
Identify and broker appropriate job opportunities that match the skills levels and abilities of participants.
Be quality and target driven, ensuring all DfE/ESF and organisational targets, deadlines and standards are achieved and consistently achieve set individual objectives, targets and KPI’s.

Essential Criteria:
Qualifications:
Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
Level 3 qualification in Advice & Guidance or be willing to work towards it.
4 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade C or above to include English. 

Experience:
Experience of designing and delivering holistic needs-led support to clients seeking employment and/or training opportunities.  This includes assessing need, developing action plans, ensuring actions are implemented and reviewed on a regular basis over a reasonable period of time.
Experience of sourcing training and or employment opportunities for those unemployed or disengaged with education or training over a reasonable period of time.
Experience of working to and understanding Adult Safeguarding policies, procedures and legislation.
A demonstrable track record of consistently having met and exceeded targets in a targeted oriented role over a reasonable period of time.

Job related Knowledge:
Strong knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Skills and Competencies:
Ability to coach, mentor and develop others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Other requirements:
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes or ability to demonstrate alternative method of being able to fulfil any travel related duties of the role.
