Purpose
RESTORE is a social economy project of East Belfast Mission. Social Economy is also known as “not-for-profit” as income is used to sustain and further develop social and environmental aims within an organisation rather than being distributed to financial investors. Restore sells a range of good quality second hand clothes, furniture, books, bric-a-brac, refurbished furniture and bikes and other household items such as mirrors and pictures.
restore delivers goods on a regular basis which requires volunteers to help with collections and deliveries of furniture. Delivery times are allocated on a morning and afternoon basis.
Specific Tasks and Duties
- To accompany the Van Driver with deliveries and collections
- Other optional tasks are available such as sorting donated items
- Keeping stock tidy
- Assisting with removals and being courteous to customers
- Helping with loading and unloading
- Heavy lifting of furniture
Skills needed
No specific skill required as training and support will be provided. It is essential that volunteers are able to undertake considerable manual handling tasks.

Training and support & supervision
Full training and demonstrations of safe use of tools and equipment will be given for each task by an experienced member of staff.
Resources Provided
Our volunteers are important to us and we want to make sure that it doesn’t cost you money to volunteer at EBM. We can provide out of pocket expenses such as travel expenses.
Commitment
The role is flexible to suit those of you who have busy lives. You can decide how much time to spend volunteering.
Accountability
Volunteers are accountable to the Van Drivers and the restore Shop Managers.
Insurance Cover
As a Volunteer you be covered by Methodist Insurance employer’s liability insurance and protected by policies such as Health and Safety.
