About Mencap

At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high-quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.

Everyone wants a purposeful job - to do something really meaningful. At Mencap, we can give you that. You’ll have opportunities to develop as a person, colleague, leader and activist.

You’ll make new friends and feel inspired to reach your potential. We’ll ask a lot of you - but you’ll get back so much more. With us, it’s never ‘just a job’.

In return for your hard work and passion we can give you real meaning and purpose in your work.

Job Description

Are you a good communicator? Understanding of other’s needs? Are you the type of person that thrives when helping others to achieve something new or to build their independence? The people in our new Omagh services are looking for a team of passionate Support Workers to support them in accessing their community and maintaining relationships with their family and friends - on a full-time basis.

You will be working as part of a team based at the service to support the people we support to look after themselves and their home. The level of support provided will vary depending on each individual’s needs.

Experience within the care sector is an advantage but not essential as we will give you all the training needed to be able to start your new and rewarding career. Your shifts will cover mornings, evenings, and sleep-ins/waking nights including bank holidays as part of a rota.

These roles require you to be motivated, have excellent communication skills as well as proven experience of working effectively within a team.

As a support worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week, including mornings (ideal for you early risers!), evenings, sleep-ins and potential waking-nights (Payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements). The best thing about flexibility? It's a two-way street. While we may require that you work a variety of shifts, we also understand that you’ll have your own requirements – have you got commitments on a Thursday? Not to worry, we can factor this in, as well as other requests (provided you give us enough notice) into our rotas.

An enhanced disclosure check and registration with NISCC will be required if successful.

By joining us, you will have the opportunity to make new friends and become inspired to be the very best that you can be, which will guide and help you to develop within your chosen career path. So, why not express how great you would be for this position by clicking on the pink ‘Apply’ button after selecting the below link? You certainly won’t regret it!
